I sat up till about 3 am last night for a couple of reasons. One being that I felt like it was a good time to post a blog that maybe wasn't so "angry" for the holidays and all. So I wrote a bunch of crap that again, as I tend to do way too often, I hit the "backspace" button and erased it all before posting. I'm never really sure how these things (blogs) are going to turn out until I'm done writing them. Never really have a subject until they get rolling. O'Prickly and the Starfucks were topics that I sat down to write about specifically. Most the time though these things turn into a left turn from hell. A friend suggested I do a list. You know like David Lettermans top 10. So I decided to take the friends advice and start a list. Now as IT IS the holiday season I have also decided to make the list positive. So the following is a list of things I am thankful for this holiday season.
1. My family. The holidays are all about family in mine. We have our traditions that have been with us since before I was born. Christmas Eve with the grandparents and then Christmas morning at home. It's the way it's always been which is good for a person like me. I like tradition. To be honest I kinda like knowing what tomorrow is going to bring. So having deep rooted traditions, that no one would dare break, is very necessary in my life. Mainly to keep me from traveling down the path of picking up a strange new hobby, like serial killing. Actually this year is a bit of a reminder on how shit changes though. How if you haven't set yourself up with the "Cleavers" or "7th Heaven" rig shit has got to get all complicated and dick with your tradition. But anyway it's the holidays so ya roll with the punches right??? yeah
2. Friends. The holidays are a good time to remember those people that touch your life in a positive way (yep, I got a little puke in my mouth on that one too, but it's the fucking holidays so bite off). I grew up being very close with my friends. Though as the years change, that group does as well. I always had that pack of friends that would do anything for one another. The job has kinda changed the whole "friend" concept though. Or maybe it's just me getting older, bitter and less tolerant of people. Now I break everything, including friends, into categories.
A. The"hey how ya doing lets grab a drink" pack.
B. The "hey how ya doing lets grab a drink" pack where you actually remember his/her spouses name but that's about it.
C. The pack that I USUALLY answer the phone when they call. Which is completely a reflection of me and not the friend. We all suffer from this I think. Our head is in a different place when they call or we just simply don't wanna be on the phone at that moment. Or maybe regardless of how close you might be with the friend calling, you may have just recently wrecked his/her car or perhaps been involved in a home video with his/her significant other. In cases like these you just know the conversation is going to be a downer. Or maybe they just recently lost someone close to them and they really need to express their loss in this time of need but your football team is winning a real nail bitter. I mean the fact that you haven't been on the phone the last 2 scores means you can't go jumping on the phone now. You could completely change the coarse of the game. Hell I have held onto a "Lucky Piss" for over 2 hours because, since the game started great, I was afraid that letting the "Lucky Piss" out would change the momentum of the game. My bladder still ain't right. Actually I think the peramiters of Pack C really can be said for all the packs so I'm not sure it really is one on it's own.
D. The BLS family. We gotta stay close we're all sharing the same liver at this point.
E. The "take my kidney" pack. This is the pack that, though you feel that way about them("take my kidney"), they are the most likly to piss you off or teach you valuable lessons in only believing in people so far. You know what I mean. At times that you really need a friend they're either there for you or they really stick it in and break it off. These also can be those people that are the quickest to judge you. For some reason they think they have a fucking right. Your going through some shit and/or doing something they don't agree with and the hypocritical shits decide to stand on a pedestal. I've lost a few that way. Thank god I didn't give them a kidney before they let their multiple faces show.
3 Living in America. I mean where else could you get wrapped up in court over false allegations for nearly 2 years. It's an awesome concept. In order to prove your innocence you have to pay lawyers to defend you while the "plaintiff" drags everything out in hopes you finally get sick of paying said lawyers and settle out of court. I mean I heard this is something that happens here in the land of the free. Free to fuck with peoples every days that is. Now as I said I am keeping this positive and believe me to the Lawyers pockets this is very much a positive. It's a bit of a negative when you think about the tax dollars wasted to have a fabricated suit wrapping up our court system.
4 I'm thankful that we FINALLY have a good person to vote for come election time. OBAMA!!!! I never get political but I have been face to face with the only 2 people on the ballets I would have even thought about voting for and when the queen bee high tailed it away from us when we were there on Capital Hill on behalf of the care provided our troops I lost all respect for her. I'll admit it, her last name was really the only thing that had me sold to begin with. Stop your internal dialog, facts are facts, we actually had a decent middle class while Bill was getting serviced. Anyway if she can't reign in a horny husband what's she gonna do on world affairs???? I'm not saying,... I'm just saying... All joking aside she was scared of being seen with the likes of us. NORMAL PEOPLE. Meanwhile Obama came to us. Even though he didn't know we were going to be there he saw us and came up interested in how we were doing as he already knew about our mission and everything about the "This is for the soldiers" campaign. He treated us like people, Tattooed, long haired or not. He was one of the most genuine people I have met. The one bitch I keep hearing is the "Lack of experience" barb Queen Bees peeps keep throwing out there. Are you kidding me, the man knows what he is talking about and I for one WELCOME IN SOME NEW BLOOD.... The same old same old has gotten us too this point. Nothing to rave about there people...lol THERE!!! POLITICAL PREACHING IS COMPLETE!!! Until I go off again...
5 With all seriousness I am thankful most for the people that allow me to do what I do for a living. The people that come out to the shows and support us and our music. and also I am VERY thankful to the men and women that have and do serve our country in our U.S. military forces. I hope for the best for you all every day. For those of you serving across seas I hope for a safe return for you and your families. I am thankful for the freedoms I abuse every day that people such as yourselves throughout time have given of themselves to preserve and I hope that the stuffed shirts on Capital Hill never forget the same. Bless you all, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
There it's only 5 but it's taken me all god damn morning so I'm done...
